NEW SHOOTING GALLERY OPENS AT THEME PARK

Oakwood Theme Park has unveiled a new indoor air pistol and rifle range.
The new feature has been set up by Carmarthen-based GoSport and was inspired by the growing popularity of the sport; both in the Olympics and the Commonwealth Games.
It is based in the Narberth attraction’s former Goal Striker building and includes a 10-metre range with seven firing points.
Oakwood Theme Park’s Gary Davies said: “We were looking for something new to provide an additional indoor attraction here at the park.
We visited the GoSport centre and were impressed with the professionalism of the team there and asked if they could set up a range here,” he added.
GoSport was started two-and-a-half years ago by Geraint Jones, initially to provide a practice facility for a girl who was going to the Youth Olympics in Australia.
Shortly afterwards he decided to developed the concept into something that was also available to the general public.
GoSport work with local Scouts’ groups; running weekly and monthly training sessions. They also participate in Pony Club triathlons and tetrathlons (shooting, swimming, riding and running)
We are very excited to be working alongside Oakwood Theme Park in bringing an Olympic and Commonwealth sport to a wider audience,” said Geraint.
The new firing range costs £4 for two targets and 20 shots.
Set in 90 acres of spectacular countryside Oakwood is Wales’ biggest family adventure attraction with more than 30 exhilarating rides and amazing experiences to discover.
A unique combination of attractions includes world-class roller, tower and sky coasters, spectacular family rides, children’s themed play areas and so much more.
Vanessa and Rob Warren from Porthcawl with sons Liam and Luke were the first to try out Oakwood Theme Park's new shooting gallery
