NEW LOOK TRAIN WELCOMES THEME PARK VISITORS
Visitors to Oakwood Theme Park over the Easter holidays will be met by a shiny new train.
The Narberth attraction, which re-opened to the public on April 2nd, has joined forces with local holiday let company Coastal Cottages of Pembrokeshire to give the park’s miniature train a smart new look for the new season.
The train, which has been re-named the ‘Coastal Express’, is part of a new joint initiative between Oakwood and the company which will also see holidaymakers receiving a special discount to visit the theme park.
CEO Matthew Evans said: “Coastal Cottages are always excited to be involved with creative and quality tourism providers in Pembrokeshire.
“Our concierge team provide a key element to guests’ experience and Oakwood will be a key player in this strategy,” he added.
Coastal Cottages are the leading self-catering provider in Wales and have over 550 top end cottages within the county ranging from beachfront locations to secluded countryside boltholes.
The 15 in (381 mm) gauge narrow gauge railway is popular with visitors and provides a convenient link from the car park to the theme park’s main square.
The train itself was made by Warwickshire-based Severn Lamb who specialise in creating transport systems for the leisure market.
Other customers include Disneyland, Busch Gardens, Thorpe Park and Legoland Windsor. They also created the moving stage for the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2004 Olympics in Greece.
