Dragon Mascot Joins St David's Day Celebrations

Staff at Oakwood Theme Park took time off from getting the park ready for the start of the new season to mark St David’s Day.
The Pembrokeshire attraction’s very own dragon Scorch joined in the fun by unfurling a large Welsh flag in front of the park’s iconic wooden rollercoaster – Megafobia.
The park, which reopens to the public on Friday, April 11th, is keen to continue developing its existing Welsh identity.
Oakwood Theme Park’s Dominic Jones said: “Last year we began incorporating bilingual signage around the park and we will build on that in 2014.
“We also ran a Welsh language advert in 2013 which proved so effective we’ll be doing the same again this season.
“As part of our ongoing investment and development programme we are launching a new and improved restaurant, which includes a host of locally sourced and produced food and drink items,” he added.
The park is also looking to expand the range of Welsh products in its shops and will be showcasing the best of local talent in a series of live music events over the summer.
“The entire site is busy with team members getting ready for the start of the new season,” said Dominic.
“All the rides and other attractions are being thoroughly cleaned and put through their paces before we open our doors to the public.
“However even with all the hustle and bustle the team wanted to mark Wales’ national day and, Scorch leapt at the chance to fly the flag,” he added.
