During our annual winter closure period here at Oakwood Theme Park we have been working hard on improving the experience we offer guests. Many guests have often asked us if we accept Access Card as a form of eligibility for their free carer ticket or our Ride Access Pass scheme. Well we have listened.
We are now excited to announce that YES! We accept Access Card as proof of eligibility!
The Access Card is a card like no other; it translates your disability / impairment into symbols that highlight the barriers you face and the reasonable adjustments you might need.
Think of it like a Disability Passport. This then informs providers quickly and discreetly about the support you need and may gain you access to things like concessionary ticket prices and complex reasonable adjustments without having to go into loads of personal detail.
It’s all based on your rights under the Equality Act and providers responsibilities.(Access Card Website)
Guests with a current and valid Access Card displaying the Essential Companion symbol will be able to purchase tickets online choosing the relevant free carer Day Pass ticket option from the list provided. A maximum of 1 free carer is permitted per a card holder. Guests must bring their Access Card to admissions on entry into the park to validate their tickets. You can book your tickets here.
When in the park all Access Card holders will be entitled to use the Ride Access Pass scheme should they wish. To gain access to the scheme, guests must visit the Whistlestop Shop during your visit to collect their wristband and Ride Access Pass leaflet. You can read more about how our Ride Access Pass scheme works here.
We love hearing feedback from guests and regularly review our processes to improve the experience for guests whenever possible. Should you have any feedback please email: [email protected]
