Oakwood Theme Park is thrilled to have enlisted the services of composer and lyricist Nick Hutson, who has created the music for ‘Flight of the Giant Peach’ which opens at Oakwood Theme Park later this year. The roller coaster, one of a number of new attractions in the new themed Dahland area, depicts the story of James and his insect friends as they travel from Dover to New York.
Nick’s previous works include composing the music for the world’s first Ghostbusters laser maze attraction which opened in Six Flags Mexico in 2015, and subsequently composed music for further Ghostbusters scare maze attractions in the Philippines and Malaysia.
Nick was the composer for the award winning SubSpecies: The End Games, as well as The Haunting of Molly Crowe at Alton Towers Resort as part of their Scarefest Halloween offering, and has also provided further music for venues and hotels around the resort. For Chessington World of Adventures, he scored their Panamonium show, and areas throughout the park.
Nick is also a presenter of the world’s largest theme park podcast – The Season Pass Podcast, which features his own show called Nick Hutson’s ERT. Within this, Nick has interviewed some of the top names in the theme park world, including John Wardley, Neil Patrick Harris and Alan Menken. He also created and is a regular presenter of and for, MusicalTalk – the UK’s Musical Theatre podcast.
Future projects for Nick include scoring the original music for Walt Disney’s Birthplace as part of the Walt Disney Birthplace Restoration Project, as well as starting his next piece for Oakwood Theme Park…!
As a fan of Roald Dahl, Nick is thrilled to be bringing his stories to life through music in Oakwood’s new Dahland.
