Oakwood announces 'Sport Relief' event!

3 January, 2012

We’re preparing to host a Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile event.Sport Relief is a large fundraising campaign which aims to change lives in the UK and across the world’s poorest countries, involving hundreds of thousands of people getting sponsored to do 1, 3 or 6 miles at the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile events across the country. The event, which raised over £42m in 2010, will take place on Sunday 25th March 2012 – which is before the park opens to the public for the main tourist season – and runners will be treated to a sneak preview of the park as they do their 1, 3 or 6 laps for the cause.
Set in 80 acres of spectacular countryside Oakwood is one of the UK’s leading theme parks with more than 30 exhilarating attractions; including four world class rides – and is the perfect location for such an event.
Oakwood Theme Park’s Sandra Hine, said: “We’re delighted to be a host venue for the Sport Relief Mile and I know that our staff are really looking forward to it – with some even volunteering to run the course themselves!
“We’re hoping to make it a fun-filled day for all involved and, fingers crossed, we’ll raise some much needed funds for a fantastic charity!“ she added.
