Check the weather before you travel

The recipe for a great day out is being prepared, no matter where you’re going. It’s helpful to check the weather forecast ahead of your visit – although don’t worry if it’s looking wet, because Oakwood Theme Park is a brilliant day for the whole family come rain or shine!

Whatever the forecast, make sure you bring your essentials and wear the right clothes, and you’ll be able to enjoy yourself comfortably. Having both a raincoat and sun cream in your bag is a rite of passage for the UK – it might say rain, but it can change very quickly to clear, blue skies.

Be sure to wear something comfortable with sensible shoes. Consider flat footwear and all-weather gear, as you might get wet and muddy during your visit – all in the name of fun! You can even bring a spare set of clothes if you’re feeling super organised, as we have facilities for you to leave your bag during your visit.

What to bring to Oakwood Theme Park

As with any day out, it’s important to pack anything you think you might need while you’re away from home. This includes supplies for yourself, kids and even babies – we have plenty of facilities onsite to cater for the whole family, including bottle warming and baby changing facilities. As well as raincoats, sun cream and a change of clothes, you might want to consider the smaller things like a waterproof bag for your mobile devices, and a refillable water bottle.

We have plenty of space to sit and take a break while refuelling. With a choice of catering outlets to choose from class fast food to sweet treats and ice cream.

Making sure you have a smooth journey

Wherever you’re travelling from to visit Oakwood Theme Park, it’s important that your day gets off to the best start and that means planning your journey accordingly. Our opening times vary throughout the year, but typically we open between 10-11am and close between 4:30pm and 10pm. You can check out our full opening times here.

If you’re feeling super organised, it may be wise to arrive at the park for when we open – it might mean an early start for some, but it does mean you’ll get even more time to enjoy everything Oakwood Theme Park has to offer!

Oakwood Theme Park is in the heart of scenic South Wales, and we have free parking close to the main entrance, to make it even easier for you to visit us. We are clearly signposted from when you leave the M4 motorway, and throughout Pembrokeshire. Oakwood Theme Park is approximately 20 minutes from Tenby, three quarters of an hour from Swansea and just over an hour from Cardiff.

If you’re visiting from other parts of the UK, you’ll likely arrive at Oakwood Theme Park via the A40. You can use the AA Route Planner to find the simplest route to get to us, no matter where you are in the country.

We should mention that unfortunately we’re not on any bus routes, but the nearest train station is 5 miles away and local taxis are available.

Our rides are split into different categories to help you plan which are the most suited to you and your family:

Thrill rides – this category of rides are for the those seeking thrill and adventure, including our rollercoasters like Speed, Megafobia and Bounce.
Family rides – if you’re visiting with kids or just not feeling quite so brave, our family rides are perfect, including the Creepy Crawler, Bobsleigh and Dizzy Disk.
Young adventure & Neverland – for those who want something that’s enjoyable without the adrenaline and racing heart, our younger rides are ideal, such as the Jolly Roger Pirate Ship, Skull Rock and Crocodile Coaster.
Other attractions – it’s not all rollercoasters at Oakwood Theme Park! We’re also home to a new kitted-out arcade, as well as an air target shooting range.
