Llanelli boy donates mountain bike prize to brother
A Llanelli schoolboy who won a mountain bike in a competition at Oakwood Theme Park has donated it to his bike-mad brother.
Llyr Jones, 13, from Pontyates, Llanelli decided his brother Sion needed the Coca-Cola-themed bicycle more as he is so keen on off-road biking.
Llyr, who attends Ysgol y Gwendraeth, was among more than 200 people who entered a prize draw to win the bike at Oakwood last month.
A representative of the Pembrokeshire theme park transported the brand new bike over to Pontyates and handed it over to Sion.
Oakwood Theme Park’s marketing manager, Stephanie Churchard, said: “It’s a really generous gesture from Llyr and, to be honest, we were all a little taken by surprise when he told us.
"The bike was supplied by Coca Cola and when a visitor purchased a large meal or large fizzy drink they were give an entry to form to fill in and hand into guest relations.
“I’m not sure how many other teenagers would have quite such a charitable attitude when it came to a brand new, top of the range mountain bike so I hope Sion will return the favour some day!”
Oakwood is now open at weekends until October 24th. As part of their ‘Awesome Autumn’ programme, the theme park will also be open daily throughout the October Half Term Holidays (October 25th – November 2nd). |
