Ahoy there...Oakwood celebrates 20th anniversary with £20,000 buried treasure giveaway

26th March 2007: Oakwood Theme Park, Wales’s number one paid for attraction, is set to re-open its doors for its 20th season on 31 March and to celebrate its anniversary one lucky visitor to the park will be given a treasure chest of £20,000.

All visitors to the park during the 2007 season will receive a prize draw entry form and just need to answer a simple question  about the park to win the treasure. What’s more the more times you visit* the more chances you have to win!

Paddy McNamara, Managing Director at Oakwood Theme Park, says: “Since opening in 1987 we have had over 6.5million visitors who have helped place Oakwood in the top ten of theme parks in the UK so we wanted to give something back to mark our anniversary.

“We’re really excited about the 2007 season and hope everyone will enjoy taking part in the birthday celebrations that we have planned. We’re looking forward to welcoming new and returning visitors to the park for a fun filled day out and can’t wait to announce the winner of our treasure chest!”

Oakwood was set up in 1987 by the McNamara family, Pembrokeshire farmers who took the bold decision to diversify into the leisure industry. The first big ride at Oakwood, which remains ever popular today, was the Pirate Ship, and following over £21 million worth of investment over the last 20 years Oakwood now boasts 30 world-class rides and attractions including the famous wooden roller coaster Megafobia, recently voted the best ride in the UK and the third best ride in the World by enthusiasts.  Oakwood’s most recent addition in 2006, Speed, introduced the first beyond vertical drop to the UK and attracted roller coaster clubs from all over the UK, Europe and America.

Oakwood has planned a whole week of birthday celebrations during the week commencing 21 May; details will be announced nearer the time.
