Oakwood calls on school pupils to help celebrate its 20th birthday

Oakwood Theme Park is celebrating its 20th birthday on 23 May 2007 and is calling on primary and secondary schools in Wales to help design their official birthday card to mark the special occasion.

Oakwood will choose three designs, one from a primary school, one from a secondary school and one from a special needs schools with the winning schools granted the golden key to Oakwood for the day with free entry for the entire school.

The final designs will be used to create Oakwood’s official birthday card and sent out as part of the celebrations as well as being sold at the park with all proceeds going to Oakwood’s charity of the year, Myasthenia Gravis Association, which supports sufferers of the so called ‘Rag Doll Illness’.

Local artist Annabel Greenhalgh and Paddy McNamara, Managing Director at Oakwood Theme Park will judge the designs and will be looking for the most imaginative designs, which sum up the fun of the Oakwood experience.

Paddy McNamara says: ”Oakwood Theme Park is all about having a fun day out and children are the experts at having fun so who better to design our birthday cards? The theme park is geared at children of all ages which is why we want to see designs from younger and older pupils showing us what makes Oakwood special to them, whether it’s experiencing the thrill of Oakwood’s white knuckle rides, learning new tricks in Matt the Magic Man’s workshop, having fun on the bobsleigh or just laughing with friends and family enjoying a day out.”

Any primary or secondary school in Wales can enter the competition. Entries should be sent to:
