Bowling bean-a-thon boost for Comic Relief

Madcap staff at Canaston Bowl have raised more than £150 with a series of silly activities and stunts to support Red Nose Day.

The activities culminated with a member of staff being sponsored to immerse themselves in a bath of beans on Friday night.

People were asked to sponsor ‘volunteer’ Matt Baker to take the plunge with all monies raised going to the charity. The baked beans were very kindly donated by Asda in Pembroke Dock.

In addition to Matt’s ‘ordeal by beans’ Canaston Bowl set up ‘Identify the Photo’ and ‘Guess the Number of Sweets’ competitions and staff also wore fancy dress on the big day.

Canaston Bowl’s Emma Owen said: “In the run up to Red Nose Day we invited people to make donations either via our competitions or to sponsor Matt.

“A large number of people came down on the night to support Matt and we all think he was very brave; not only to sit in a bathful of cold baked beans but also to strip down to his shorts in front of us all!

“It was a great effort by everyone and we’re delighted with the response we got from staff and visitors alike,” she added.
