Here at Oakwood we're gearing up for our 2012 season, which starts on the 31st March. In celebration of our 25th birthday we want to help as many school trip visitors as possible visit us this year and celebrate with us! That's why we've reduced the price of entry for school pupils from £12.95 to £11.50 for 2012. We will also still offer FREE entry for 1 teacher for every 10 pupils booked. We're preparing to host a Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile event.Sport Relief is a large fundraising campaign which aims to change lives in the UK and across the world’s poorest countries, involving hundreds of thousands of people getting sponsored to do 1, 3 or 6 miles at the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile events across the country. Oakwood hosts young carers.

A group of young carers enjoyed a day out at Oakwood Theme Park as part of a pioneering new project aimed at engaging youngsters with the world of science. The event was organised by The Darwin Centre and included behind-the-scenes tours of the Pembrokeshire park as well as a series of scientific experiments and workshops. As part of the event the youngsters, who all care for a relative, were given data recording devices to measure both the speed and the G-force of the park’s different rides and were given talks on engineering by the staff. Cross Country success

Hundreds of primary school children braved mist and rain to take part in a major sporting event at Oakwood Theme Park last week. The Pembrokeshire attraction played host to 844 sporty youngsters for the 21st anniversary Pembrokeshire Primary Schools Cross Country Championships. The event attracted competitors from across the region with youngsters from 47 county primary schools braving the conditions to take part at different age levels. The race is run at the award-winning attraction every year and this year’s race proved particularly popular with competitors and spectators alike. Halloween Fun at Oakwood!

There are a host of Halloween-themed thrills and chills taking place at Oakwood over the October Half Term holidays. Running from Wednesday, October 26th to Sunday, October 30th anyone arriving at the Pembrokeshire theme park in full Halloween-themed fancy dress will receive a 20% discount on standard, junior and concessions tickets. To add to the fun staff will be donning frightening fancy dress for the event and there will also be daily prize draws to win annual passes for 2012.

Russians visit Oakwood

A delegation from the Russian Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions travelled to Wales at the weekend to visit Oakwood Theme Park. Around 17 members of the association visited the Pembrokeshire attraction as part of a fact-finding visit. They met with members of the senior management team and were given a guided tour of the park; including an opportunity to try out all the rides and go behind the scenes. Oakwood’s heatwave HOT OFFER!

With a miniature heatwave on the cards, Oakwood Theme Park is inviting visitors to take advantage of the late summer sun with a special 20% discount admission price over the weekend. The popular Pembrokeshire attraction is offering the saving off all Standard and Junior tickets purchased on-line via the Oakwood website for Saturday, October 1st and Sunday, October 2nd. Oakwood Theme Park is open every weekend until October 23rd and then open daily until October 30th when it will close for the end of the season. Ambassador to donate shirts to charity

A pair of autographed bike shirts belonging to Olympic cyclist Geraint Thomas MBE are being donated to a local charity by Oakwood Theme Park. The Cardiff-born 25-year-old has been official ambassador for the Pembrokeshire park in 2011 and he donated the two shirts; a Welsh national top and a Team Sky one, which have both been autographed. The prized shirts have been donated to the Swansea branch of Headway, a national charity set up to give help and support to people who have experienced head injuries along with their families and carers.
